Man survives being stabbed in the head in Brighton

A Brighton man has been accused of stabbing someone he knew in the head.

The victim, also from Brighton, survived the attack which happened early last Wednesday (13 March) near Preston Park.

Officers from Sussex Police were called to Sainsbury’s in Preston Road, Brighton, shortly after 4am in response to reports of a man bleeding heavily from a head wound caused by a knife.

The victim was taken by ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton where he was treated.

An investigation was started to trace the suspect. He was found three days later in Sackville Road, Hove.

Gregory Jones, 27, of Harrington Road, Brighton, was charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Monday 16 March) when he was remanded in custody.

He is due to appear in court again for a plea and case management hearing on Friday 7 June.
