Comic Boom
Comic Boom suffered a little wobble this month but still managed to pull off the one-heeled look – largely due to the superior hosting skills of Paul Mccaffrey who maintained the jokes, and the illusion of order, for a lairy Bank Holiday crowd.
Highlights included Andrea Hubert – who came to the stage like a woman possessed. Her outrageous over-sharing was sensational and then shortly followed by a car-crash from Chris Coltrane. His set was riddled with cliches and stereotypes and deservedly cut short. Stuart Hossack’s brilliantly original and surreal daydream sequence was masterful, which only left headliner Ellis James’ unimaginative, but nevertheless very well received set, leaving Boom ending on a hard-earned high note.
