U Roy and Yellowman

2013 is looking to be a bumper year for Brighton’s reggae fans continuing with this heavyweight double-header of dancehall legends. This night of old school toasting, propelled by an expert sound system, began with ‘King of Slackness’ Yellowman bouncing out and going straight into his much-sampled signature song, whipping up the crowd throughout an energetic but disappointingly short set. U Roy watched from behind the decks as his two collaborators slammed out some infectious rub a dub but sadly only stepped out for the occasional line; a real shame as his sweet voice and lyrical dexterity sounded great.
