Four Sussex University students have been charged after being arrested during a protest at the Falmer campus.

Sussex Police charged Can Aniker, 21, who lives on campus, yesterday (Tuesday 2 April) with causing criminal damage at the university on Monday 25 March.

Three other students from Brighton and Hove were charged yesterday with obstructing a constable in the execution of his or her duty.

They were Sarah Becca, also known as Sarah Becker, 24, of Farman Street, Hove, Kristina Ilieva, 23, of Station Approach, Brighton, and Caradog Jones, 19, who lives on campus.

The obstruction offences were all alleged to have been committed on Monday 25 March.

The four have all been bailed to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 18 April.

Sussex Police said that officers were continuing to investigate criminal damage caused at the university last week during the protest about outsourcing support workers’ jobs.
