Gilles Peterson

No one should go to a Gilles Peterson set knowing what to expect. The legendary DJ, record collector and founder of Acid Jazz Records is famed for his eccletic approach to the art of a good selection and his Easter Bank Holiday appearance at Concorde2 proved to be no exception.

A lot of people had braved the cold to attend this show. They hadn’t come for the love of one particularly type of music, but instead were there because Gilles Peterson is a master at what he does. The audience just had to follow and they’d soon discover a very wide world of music.

A selection of Jazz, Reggae, African Rythm, Electro, Minimal and Dubstep was served-up, expertly mixed together for his public. The choices were totally right. The crowd felt the beat, moving to the many different rhythms, sometimes wise and steady and sometimes wild. We definitely followed the Easter Bunny into his eclectic universe.
