Ojo de Gringa

This fine line-up of local experimental bands saw main support Bearded Youth Quest deliver an excellent mixed bag of jazz/math/prog/metal; like Steely Dan turned up to 11. The headlining five-piece were a little less loud but their set of jazz fusion with a twist, equally enthralled the appreciative crowd. Apart from some occasional drifting into Police-like cod reggae interludes, they displayed fine musicianship with the sax free-forming, over keys or glockenspiel and heavy guitar. Full marks to the drummer, whose frenetic, almost drum and bass, work was a constant driving force that propelled the group throughout the well-constructed instrumentals.
