Brighton fire crews tackle blazing car

Fire crews from Brighton were called out to a car fire in Stanmer Park early this morning (Wednesday 17 April).

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said that the 999 call came shortly after 4.15am and crews from Preston Circus in Brighton were sent to tackle the blaze.

The fire service said: β€œOn arrival, crews found the car well alight and used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish the blaze.”

The car – a Ford Fiesta – had been dumped and set on fire at the entrance to the park, off Lewes Road.

Firefighters spent almost an hour dealing with the suspected arson which left the car badly damaged.
