Brighton police use taser to arrest knife-wielding man
Police officers used a taser when they arrested a 20-year-old man armed with a knife in Brighton late last night (Wednesday 17 April).
Sussex Police said: “A man was safely arrested after a violent late-night incident in a Brighton flat.
“At 10.50pm police were called to the flat in Grove Hill, Brighton, after reports of a disturbance.
“Hearing shouts and screams from a woman they forced their way in and were confronted by a man who was wielding a large knife and was holding and threatening a 56-year-old woman.
“Officers restrained the man, including the discharge of a taser device, and disarmed him.
“The woman was treated at the Royal Sussex County Hospital for minor injuries but was later discharged.
“The 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of threats to kill and is currently in custody for interview and further inquiries.
“The prompt and professional actions of the officers ensured that the incident was resolved quickly and safely for all concerned.”
