Peter Knapp’s All you ever wanted to know about… opera!

Peter Knapp conducted the fifteen member orchestra and the audience with equal delight as he gave a brief and highly expurgated history of opera peppered and spiced with very tall tales of overweight divas and under rehearsed choruses. Knapp is a keen exponent of opera being translated from its original language into English, but sung in the accent of the nationality of the character. This resulted in an indecipherable mash-up of Carmen sung in English in a Spanish style with the Eastern European accent of the Polish-born bass Margin Gesla. Stephanie Lewis (mezzo-soprano), and Louise Fuller (soprano) both gave fine performances.
