Author to tell Brighton community group about local ‘dens of iniquity’

Brighton author and historian Rose Collis is to tell a community group about the North Laine’s inns and dens of iniquity this evening (Monday 22 April).

Rose Collis, who revised and updated The New Encyclopaedia of Brighton (based on the original by Tim Carder), is speaking at the annual general meeting (AGM) of the North Laine Community Association.

As she also wrote Brighton Boozers, a history of the local pub culture, she is well placed to talk about the punters, publicans and even pets of the area’s colourful pub history.

The association said that the AGM – in the 5th floor conference room at Community Base in Queen’s Road – would be brief. The event starts at 7.45pm.
