Chas & Dave

The Rockney retirement fund added a few quid to the coffers with the first of two sold out seafront shows. For the first set the duo (plus Chas’s son Nick on drums) ran through their pre-fame 70s output showcasing their disparate influences; the music hall innuendo of Harry Champion combined with New Orleans r ‘n’ b forming their singular sound. Part two was a run through of the hits; the perfect knees-up soundtrack which had everyone grinning and singing along. Their skilled musicianship shone through with Chas’s Jerry Lee influenced boogie and Dave’s inventive bass lines propelling each much-loved number.
