Neville’s Island

Blimey this play dragged a bit. The story centres around four middle management colleagues (Neville/Angus/Roy/Gordon) on a bonding weekend in the Lake District, their boat capsizes and they find themselves marooned on a small island away from civilisation, unable to call for help. As you would expect, the ‘bonding’ dissapates via insomnia/hunger/paranoia and the unscrutable sarcasm of Gordon who may have unwittingly contributed to Roy commiting suicide somewhere on the island. Others were laughing heartily, but only the occassional chuckle from this reviewer. It’s too long but the last 20 mins delves into more interesting darker territory and the slight twist at the end is quite nice.
