Brighton police want to trace owner of stolen saw
Brighton police are trying to trace the owner of a circular saw that they seized in Brighton.
They arrested a man and seized the circular saw after two people called Sussex Police to report a man acting suspiciously near the Royal Pavilion.
Susses Police said that he was trying to hide something under his clothing when the callers phoned the police at about 3.30pm on Saturday 27 April.
Officers arrested the man, a 42-year-old, on suspicion of having stolen a large Evolution 3 circular saw on its own platform.
He was later released on police bail until Tuesday 21 May while inquiries continue.
PC Adam Parris said: “From all the circumstances we believe the saw may have been stolen somewhere locally on the same day.”
He urged the owner or anyone with information that could help to call Sussex Police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
