Brighton cyclist suffers serious injuries in accident
A 37-year-old Brighton woman was flown to hospital after falling off her bicycle.
The woman suffered injuries to her head and face and was in serious but stable condition, Sussex Police said today (Tuesday 7 May).
The force said that the woman was flown to King’s College Hospital in London after coming off her bike on the A275 near Lewes Racecourse.
The accident happened shortly before noon on Friday (3 May) when police and paramedics were called out.
Inspector Steve Grace, from the East Sussex Road Policing Unit, said: “The cyclist remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
“She is being treated for head and facial injuries.
“I would like to thank the passers by who came to the aid of the injured woman and called for an ambulance.
“We do not believe any other vehicle was involved but would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the cyclist prior to her coming off her bike.”
He asked anyone with information to call Sussex Police on 101.
