Picablo
The Milanese duo, Tam Teatromusica, presented the UK Premiere of Picablo, a witty and inventive exploration of the creative genius that was Picasso.
Canvas-shaped blocks are moved about by the two actors, creating backdrops for digital images – at times a faithful Picasso, at others a visual trick. This visually arresting and inventive use of projection combined with physical theatre was the best thing about this performance. Cubism being played with – literally in cubes…
Some of the mime and the more engineered animation felt a little strained and the overall effect was a little confusing at times but it is hard to go wrong with such brilliant raw material as Picasso
