Anna Huntley with Nick Pritchard and Simon Lepper
Britten’s song settings are so much more than simple accompaniments for voices. In each the piano plays a major part, his arrangements are so beautiful and poetic. Anna Huntley’s fine voice and real sense of drama was beautifully balanced by the playing of Simon Lepper and the excellent repressive skills of the young Nick Pritchard who is surely a name to watch. Starting with Purcell, moving on to Hardy and finishing with the charming folk song arrangements gave each the chance to show their fine skills in a concert that was only marred by the whine of a hearing aid.
