Volcano
A pilot is grounded during the Eyjafjallajökull ash cloud in April 2010. In an enforced moment of stillness he is facing his inner demons and desires. In public.
The pilot stands on stage, lit, in uniform, like a specimen in a lab – as we investigate what makes him tick. In a parallel performance we are in a lecture theatre listening to secretly hot Dr Mike Cassidy explain the science bit about volcanos.
Manouvering our attention between the two men are Rachael Clerke and Josephine Joy, themselves switching personas between crazed air stewards, narrators, lab assistants and the personification of volcanos.
Still a little raw around the edges but this likeable and energetic performance was funny and moving too.
