Beowulf
Now maybe I am the wrong person, who knows, but I really didn’t like this. Forgive me for thinking that it was simply a messy and amateurish group of guys having fun with an old story. Why they took Beowulf and gave it a cross between punk and Weill make-over I do not know. I’m sure that Kurt would be spinning in his grave and The Cramps wetting themselves. The best I can say about it would be that it was full of energy, sadly energy used in self indulgent chaos that was drably staged, poorly lit and utilised a sound system that meant that hardly a word was intelligible – except for the massive amount of swearing. How I wished for something better, for it to improve as the evening went on but it simply didn’t and I left feeling that that was 70 minutes that I will never get back.
