Great Escape: Milo Greene
The LA five piece chose the daunting surroundings of St Bart’s to end their European tour and their set began with soft vocal harmonies, recalling Green Gartside’s hushed tone, building up to an Elbow-like sweeping stadium anthemic chorus. Unfortunately, aside from the lead singer’s country twang on a Fleet Foxes-meets-Laurel Canyon West Coast folk pop number, they delivered a formulaic slow building verse/ acapella middle eight/ bombastic finish set of identikit songs. All members, except the drummer, swapped roles throughout and the songs were cleverly constructed and sounded, dare I say, nice. However, there wasn’t enough variety to make it a memorable set.
