The Sun That Casts No Shadows

The Sun That Casts No Shadows is a site-specific adaptation of Camus’ ‘The Outsider’ set in and around the Volks nightclub. At first this seemed like an odd choice of venue, but turned out to be very effective. The audience were the jury in the trial of Meursault and were taken outside to view the exact location on the beach where the murder happened. With no set, but clever use of the venue’s different rooms, the bar, the CCTV, and the audience’s own imagination, we were in an Algerian old folk’s home, a cinema, a courtroom and a prison cell. An original and imaginative production and a very impressive performance from such a young cast.
