World renowned for their elegant and subversive brand of circus, NoFit State launch their UK tented tour of BIANCO at Brighton Fringe.
When you think of circus, what comes to mind? Sequined leotards? Brightly dressed clowns? Think again. NoFit State will shatter any preconceptions you had about circus with their new show, BIANCO_Turning Savage. The show is coming to Brighton Fringe, after sell-out performances and critical acclaim in London and Cardiff.
Seductive, thrilling and enchanting, BIANCO_Turning Savage is the new NoFit State contemporary circus spectacular. It is a return to the company’s roots and iconic immersive, promenade work, an all consuming theatrical experience combining intoxicating live music, gravity defying circus and stunning costume design in a constantly evolving environment.
NoFit State are the UK’s leading contemporary circus. They were one of the genre’s pioneers when they first formed 26 years ago. Tom Rack, Creative Producer of BIANCO, is one of the five founding members of the company and is touring with the production this summer.
Tom says: “Where circuses were historically bonded by family ties, we are united by our work and our passion for the circus arts.
Living together, working together, travelling together, laughing, eating, sometimes crying but always taking on the world together creates a spirit and a bond that brings our community together into something special. We put our lives in each others’ hands daily. This trust, bond and complicity is evident on the stage and gives our work its unique heart and soul.
“We are delighted to be playing in Brighton again. I’m sure locals and seaside visitors alike will love BIANCO; it combines a beautiful fusion of contemporary circus with dance and drama that will thrill audiences. The show is wonderfully engaging as you are invited to walk among the performers and get up close to the action during this promenade performance. We hope we can feed your dreams, nourish your spirit and leave you uplifted and inspire you to challenge yourself and your world.”
The production has drawn in talent from 12 countries and three continents, for a show that will take your breath away. BIANCO has a constantly evolving narrative, following the theme of transition and a journey.
Director Firenza Guidi explains: “A village, a community, a travelling world, BIANCO, is the story of a great journey inside and outside of ourselves. The story of a battle between beauty and brutality, the fragility of lost selves, of lost wishes and desires. It is excitement, chaos and beauty all rolled into one.”
BIANCO brings together the best UK and worldwide performers with a broad range of circus skills: swinging trapeze, aerial straps and rope, cloudswing, dance trapeze, trampoline, juggling, hand-balance and acrobatics. Jaw-dropping technique and high energy theatricality make BIANCO one of this year’s most awaited circus performances.
