The Girl With The Iron Claws
Anyone who loves fairy tales would adore The Girl with the Iron Claws. Using a mixture of acting and puppets, this enchanting play told the mythical story of a girl who ran off with a bear she met in the woods. The rustic set made from wooden step ladders and coat stands was used flexibly to represent different locations and the puppets contrasted in size and scale from small children to a Troll Queen with huge red talons. Particularly wonderful was the bear, represented by just a head and a giant claw. It was funny and entertaining for adults as well as children and the tomboy princess was a welcome change from the usual wishy-washy heroines.
