Can You Hear Seagulls?

Two old people sat drinking tea and waiting for someone. The husband was sick and the wife was taking care of him. Through the conversation it became apparent that the person they were waiting for was going to help them die. It was an interesting concept for a play, and moving in parts, but let down by the plain black backdrop, awkward script and amateurish acting. The wife came across more like a next door neighbour who had dropped in for a chat than a devoted spouse who couldn’t bear the thought of living if her husband were dead and the couple seemed to know strangely little about each other for people who were supposed to have been married for so long. Can You Hear Seagulls? had potential, but needed some more work to make it convincing.
