1984

Content-wise this was not, by any means, an easy watch. Our main protagonist, Winston Smith, struggles with the regimented conformity that Big Brother has imposed on its people. A never-ending war, blinkered belief in BB, enjoyment is controlled, history re-written to suit the propaganda. Its themes are as relevant today as ever (an insular North Korea, collective ideology of Al-Qaeda) which makes it a must-see for all. It’s long, but hard to see where you would cut it, so stick with it because it’s worth it. It was extremely graphic, harrowing and at times distressing but brilliantly done by ‘Sell a Door Theatre’.
