Killers
A controversial concept of utilising correspondence from Britain’s most infamous serial killers, performed in the atmospheric setting of the Victorian police cells beneath the Town Hall, was a Fringe highlight. With recorded prison hubbub ever-present we were let into the worlds of Brady, Nilson and Sutcliffe through genuine letters skilfully adapted by Glenn Chandler. A bitter Brady was resentful of being force-fed through his hunger strike while acting as an agony uncle to a teenage pen pal; Sutcliffe’s flowery, flirtatious responses to various groupies were delivered with menacing relish but Arron Usher’s lascivious, and unsettling rants as Nilsen was the highlight of this powerful show.
