Mudhoney
Some bands ease into middle age gracefully as their music softens. Seattle’s perennial grunge survivors, Mudhoney, aren’t that sort of band. After 25 years together, frontman Mark Arm, at 51, has apparently barely aged, leading a crashing rock ‘n’ roll spectacle every bit the band that influenced the scene’s nineties greats and the likes of current copycats Tribes. Undoubtedly enjoyable, with the classics ‘Sweet Young Thing Ain’t Sweet No More’ and ‘Touch Me, I’m Sick’ brilliant, this slightly samey set did beg the question, though, of how long Mudhoney can continue churning out the same old reliable songs album after album.
