Source New Music: Martin Rossiter & The Beautiful Word
This chalk and cheese bill began with the youthful exuberance and highly excitable bouncy pop of TBW before the mood darkened as Mr Rossiter took to the stage.
Baring his soul in the spotlight, he prowled around with a swagger born of supreme confidence in his songs; his faithful sidekick, the ridiculously talented pianist Robin Coward adding to the frisson.
With his recent album, Rossiter has produced a collection of songs of a style and quality rarely heard these days: ‘I Must Be Jesus’ was almost Bassey-like with its dramatic cabaret feel. We’re lucky to have him.
