Their connections to the local area explained
1 James Burke – no. 62 – Ironcially, the presenter of TV’s often-tenuous Connections enjoyed no connection whatsoever with Brighton and Hove, a fact which made him noteworthy.
2 Boudica – no. 16 – The very first person to insist on referring to the ancient warrior queen formerly known as Boadicea by her current, purportedly more accurate moniker was a tutor in Gender Studies at The University of Sussex in 1982.
3 Homepride Fred– no. 82 – The distinctive Be-ro/Homepride bowler-hatted figure featured on a plastic kitchen clock that went for £55 a couple of weeks back at Snoopers Paradise.
4 Basement Jaxx – no. 9 – The electronic dance music duo were scheduled to headline at the Stanmer Festival in 2002, but it was cancelled.
5 Frances Hodgson Burnett – no. 13 – The well-known children’s writer had a dirty weekend with the well-know children’s writer Kenneth Grahame at the Grand in1891. Probably
6 Bez – no. 33 – After a gig at The Dome, The Happy Mondays’ dancing Manc mannekin took a wrong turn on the way to his hotel, and was lost for three days in the twittens.
7 Beryl The Peril – no. 41 – Arts Development Officer, Brighton and Hove City Council, 2002-2009

Yes, the Brighton Festival and Fringe is over for another year, and it’s time to start thinking about who is going to be the guest director for the next one.
