Brighton shop staff thwart robbery at knifepoint
Two shop staff thwarted a man brandishing a knife as he tried to rob a convenience store in Brighton.
A 27-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man were cashing up in the Costcutter off-licence in Pelham Terrace in Lewes Road when the would-be robber came into the shop.
He threatened the pair with a knife and demanded money but they refused to hand over any cash.
They threw two bottles at the man who ran off empty-handed at about 9.45pm on Sunday (16 June).
The suspect was described as a slim white man in his late twenties to mid thirties, about 5ft 8in tall and with mousey coloured hair.
He was wearing a black leather jacket over a dark hooded top and dark blue Adidas jogging bottoms.
Detective Constable Aran Boyt said: “If you saw the incident please call us.”
Witnesses or anyone with information should call Sussex Police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
