Sicksville A G-Go

Taking the beat to the beach, this was a stand-out night from Sicksville. Every band was a highlight of 1950’s surf-drenched sexy verve and rockabilly energy, but it was great to see the 5-6-7-8s in one of their only two UK appearances this year. You’ll remember them as the all girl Japanese guitar-wielding band from Kill Bill – as well as reprising their hit ‘Woo Hoo’ from that movie, they brought a unique brand of barmy infectious energy in all their other songs, from an ode to Mothra, to a song celebrating the heroism of household appliances – called, obviously, ‘Hooverine’.
