What with all the TV panel hosting, round ups of the various years, spot of acting and writing of best-selling books as a comedy pundit, you’d be forgiven for thinking that stand-up was simply a means to an end for Jimmy Carr. He’s on the telly, got the profile, so why doesn’t he just put his feet up? Because stand-up is still what he does the very best.

James Anthony Patrick Carr is almost constantly gigging, alongside his various other highly successful roles, earning him the reputation of one of the hardest working comedians in comedy today. This tour started last year and Carr’s still adding extra dates to it, at some of the biggest theatre venues in the country, and yet resisting those arena shows which have proven so controversial amongst comedy connoisseurs in recent years.

Requesting that you ‘leave your conscience, sense of common decency and moral compass at home and come on out for a laugh’, Gagging Order (Jimmy’s latest show) is more of the same sharp writing, tight gags, and knee-jerk laughs before you realise what’s tickled you. Jimmy Carr has gone on record as saying his favourite kind of laugh to hear is the monster feral guffaw followed by the gasp of realisation at what you’re laughing at, so expect plenty of those aimed straight for the very edge of your comfort zone. His shows aren’t themed around an event or topic, like a lot of his fellow comics favour, instead simply aiming to make you laugh in all manner of different ways. And what could be better than that?
