Comic Boom
The Komedia’s monthly airing of the best in stand-up is usually something of a curate’s egg and so it proved tonight. The host, Paul McCaffrey, did a fine job , his persistent and wearisome use of the ‘f’ word not withstanding. Laura Lexx didn’t get the laughs she deserved. Her comedy had a sly sophistication which was too often lost in her rather breathy, slightly hysterical delivery. The headliner, Pat Cahill, was something of an anticlimax with his series of ‘funny’ songs, silly noises and not particularly strong material. My +1 giggled consistently enough, though, for it to have been dubbed a fun evening out.
