New Brighton and Hove patient watchdog holds public meeting

A new patient watchdog for Brighton and Hove is asking people to come to a public meeting to help improve accident and emergency (A&E) services.

Healthwatch Brighton and Hove is a new health and social care watchdog which describes itself as run by and for local people.

The organisation is independent of the NHS and Brighton and Hove City Council.

It said that it would be working with Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust over the next four months on a pilot project.

The focus would be on listening to the views of patients and the public to help the hospital trust improve A&E services at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

Healthwatch said: “We are keen to involve local people, patients and their friends and families in this project.”

The public meeting will take place at the Audrey Emerton Building, opposite the main entrance to Royal Sussex, in Eastern Road, Brighton, from 6pm to 8pm on Tuesday (2 July).

Healthwatch described the event as a “development group meeting” and asked anyone who was interested in attending to book a place.
