Brighton University wins £136k research grant

Brighton University has been awarded a £136,000 research grant to work with a leading alternative energy company.

The university will work with Ceres Power, which is based in Horsham and has developed fuel cells based on low-cost steels.

The research project will look at ways to improve the performance and reduce the cost of the thermal system that supports the fuel cell.

The funding is through a two-year Knowledge Transfer Partnership, run by the government’s Technology Strategy Board.

Ceres Power has developed a unique steel cell technology and is working with partners to incorporate the cell in combined heat and power products.

The project is led and supervised by Dr Rob Morgan and supported by Dr David Mason, both from the university’s School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics.

They are seeking a graduate to lead the project as a thermal integration engineer. For more details, click here.
