Celebcity: BGT stars line up for Pride
Pride’s got talent
Fans of Britain’s
Got Talent will be delighted to hear that two of the most memorable acts from the ITV show’s 2013 semi-finals have been added to the line-up on the main stage for Pride 2013. The flamboyant and funky four-piece group The Clubtown Freaks and high camp seven-piece dance troupe The Glambassadors will perform on the Icons Main Stage at the 3rd of August event alongside headline acts including Paloma Faith, Alison Moyet and MKS (the original Sugababes).
“Britain’s Got Talent was a fantastic thrill,” says The Clubtown Freaks’ Chrissy Darling, “but we are even more excited about playing at Brighton Pride’s main stage on the same bill as legends like Alison Moyet, bands like Stooshe and artists such as Paloma Faith. It’s going to be one amazing day!”

Zoe Ball with Ryan Heal, Chief Executive of Rockinghorse
Strictly Zoe
Stictly’s Zoe Ball was a celebrity judge for the Rockinghorse Midsummer Ball held recently at the Brighton Metropole where organisers raised over £40,000 for the Hilton in the Community Foundation and Rockinghorse. Alongside TV presenter Sid Sloane, the Brighton dance queen cast her critical eye on a jive contest, which was won by Gary Peters of brightonandhovejobs.com. Meanwhile, Latest’s Andrew Kay came third. Big congrats to them both – we didn’t know they had it in them!

Rockin’ all over Hastings
A new film starring rock legends Status Quo, which was filmed at Hastings Blue Reef Aquarium premieres this week.
Frontmen Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt visited the aquarium last year to film underwater shots for the new film called Bula Quo. The comedy film, which also stars former EastEnders actor Craig Fairbrass, features 12 of the band’s most popular songs and was also partly filmed in Fiji.
Bula Quo is directed by award-winning Stuart St. Paul, who has worked on projects ranging from Duran Duran’s seminal ‘Wild Boys’ video, to massive franchises like Aliens, Batman and three Bond movies. And, in case you didn’t know, Status Quo are one of the longest living rock bands in the world having been performing together since 1967. We’re perhaps not the biggest Quo fans here in the office but the opportunity to see them in a Hastings aquarium is reason enough for a trip to the cinema for us.
Gold star
The brilliant Paralympic gold medalist Ellie Simmonds was in Sussex as guest of honour at the opening of the Splashpoint Leisure Centre in Worthing last week. Crowds gathered to meet the London 2012 Paralympian at the official unveiling of the £19.7 million new swimming pool. Ellie generously stopped to sign autographs and have pictures taken with children from Lyndhurst First School in Worthing including the lovely Scarlett, daughter of Clare in our office.
