Monsters University (U)

As we have learnt from ‘Toy Story”s Buzz and Woody, out of initial discontent can rise a true bromance. The same comes to fruition in Pixar’s latest release, ‘Monsters University’. We’ve seen the close-knit relationship between Sully and Mike but have they always been so chummy? Apparently not. Director Dan Scanlon takes us back to their higher educational years where a privileged young James P. Sullivan comes into conflict with an over-keen Mike Wazowski when they get kicked off the Scare program. Despite the usual magic of Pixar’s impressive animation being entertaining for both children and adults, setting it in an American university environment is baffling; where fraternity divisions and social ranking concepts are lost on the younger generations. As fun as it is, Monsters Inc has more heart and soul.
