Police name wanted Brighton doorstep conman suspect

Detectives trying to solve a series of distraction burglaries in Brighton have named 24-year-old Jamie Webb as their prime suspect.

Sussex Police said that a doorstep conmen had stolen wallets, purses and handbags in six burglaries in Whitehawk in March.

Detective Constable Scott Elmer said: “We want to talk to Jamie Webb about six distraction burglaries which happened between 10 and 23 March.

“In each case the offender knocked on the door of the victim and asked to borrow a screwdriver.

“When the occupant has gone to fetch one, he stole from inside the house, taking wallets, purses and handbags.

“We are keen to talk to Jamie as we believe he may have valuable information for us.

“Jamie is 24 years old, of medium build and has a tribal tattoo on his right arm and ‘Mum’ tattooed on his torso.”
