Celebcity: The Fishlove campaign hots up in Rome

The Fishlove campaign hots up in Rome, Glastonbury stars, & Ben Fogle on the beach

Mamma mia!
A few weeks ago we told you about the little fishy trip to Rome to launch the Italian debut of Moshimo’s Fishlove campaign. Well here’s a photo of the launch itself, with me looking less than fishy with the big Fishlove campaign names, including Greta Scacchi, Karl Jones and Nicky.

Behind us you can see some of Alan Gelati’s work, with Anna Skellern and Melanie Laurent keeping modest with their fishy friends. Check out his work, along with other great photographers, at www.fishlove.co.uk, you can even see the infamous Sir Richard Branson photograph! Fishlove aims to end EU overfishing and promote the recovery of fish stocks, and does so with these incredible photos to promote the cause.

It’s lovely to see so many celebrities taking part, and it’s great to be part of Fishlove’s progress, especially when they’re shocking Rome with a nude lady outside the Vatican. Please visit their website and show your support!

Riding the air waves
Liam Gallager, Rita Ora and Rizzle Kicks were only a few of the amazing music acts Guy Lloyd got to interview last month. Lloyd, our local DJ for Juice 107.2, was also the radio DJ for the official Glastonbury radio and Worthy FM this year, and spent his time interviewing big music acts for them. Whilst 135,000 ticket holders jumped and sang along to their favourite acts, Lloyd was spending one-on-one time with the others, a job we would all love to do. There’s even a photo of Lloyd hugging Liam Gallager, any Oasis fan’s dream! We’re proud that our lovely local radio star was the official DJ for Glasto, and we hope we’ll get to have a little listen to him DJ for it next year, too. The interviews were even broadcast on Juice 107.2, so us Brightonians could listen and not miss out on the Glasto atmosphere. Thank you Guy!

Ben Fogle cleans up
Environmentalist and adventurer Ben Fogle, along with Barefoot Wine, are leading the way in a campaign to keep Britain’s beaches ‘barefoot friendly’.

On Saturday 6 July, a record breaking 312 volunteers gathered at Brighton beach to take part in the Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project. A staggering 117kgs of rubbish was collected from our beach.

The national Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project is now in its sixth year and Ben Fogle is the ambassador.

He says: “I’ve been involved in environmental issues for years and I’m passionate about the outdoors. A seemingly clean beach can actually have huge amounts of litter and rubbish just hidden beneath the surface, it’s a bit like sweeping rubbish under the carpet.

The Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project makes tackling environmental issues fun and an activity that everyone can get involved with.”
