Intern for Latest 7 with City College Brighton & Hove’s NCTJ course

Become a qualified journalist & get the chance to intern for Latest 7 with City College Brighton & Hove’s NCTJ course

Can I quote you on that?
The media is a sought-after industry to work in and it’s easy to see why! Fast-moving, creative, always fresh and exciting… whatever aspect of the media you want to work in, whether it’s film, television, print, online or radio, City College Brighton & Hove’s NCTJ accredited Multimedia Journalism courses can set you on the path to success. Their courses are some of the best performing in the UK, in 2011 scooping four national NCTJ awards for media law and public affairs modules – an unprecedented accolade for the department.

Based in the bright, airy offices in the heart of the city in the bustling, bohemian North Laine area, the city centre is renowned for being a multi-media hub and this is where you will be right in the mix.

The courses are practically based with the aim of getting students a job on a magazine, newspaper, online/video website or for those who want to make it as a freelancer. In today’s world, it is crucial that journalists-to-be have as many skills as possible, and a wide range, and that is achieved through the content of these courses.

The one year Multimedia journalism course (three days a week) would be suitable for someone wanting to train to be a fully qualified journalist but has other commitments they have to maintain on the other two days.
The fast track course is a high pressure course and students are made aware that it comes first.

Intern with Latest 7 while you study
If you are under 19 by 31 August 2013 you could be a sponsored intern for Latest 7 Magazine or Brighton and Hove Independent newspaper alongside studying on the Fast Track course. This is a fantastic opportunity for the best young students around.

Guest speakers on the course include Prof. Roy Greenslade, Vanessa Harriss (Vogue iPad designer) and investigative journalist Nick Davies.

City College students from 2010-11 Bill Gardner and Claire Smythe were shortlisted for this year’s British Society of Editors best reporter awards. Their student of the year 2012 was Libby Powell, who mapped the elections in Sierra Leone and India for journalism charity Radar she set up while on the course.

City College Brighton & Hove is now recruiting for Fast Track and 1 Year Journalism Multimedia NCTJ.
Fast Track starts 9 September 2013 and finishes 31 January 2014.
One Year course starts 9 September and finishes 4 July 2014
