Gentlemen of The Road Festival Lewes Stopover

Billed as a global series of events in small cities and towns around the world, Mumford and Son’s Gentlemen of the Road Stopover is in its second successful year and Sussex residents were lucky that Lewes was chosen as the only UK Stopover of 2013.

A fantastic bill included British Sea Power and Vampire Weekend on the Friday and The Mystery Jets, Edwards Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, The Vaccines and Mumford & Sons on the Saturday.

The sun broke through the crowds for Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros’ iconic rendition of ‘Home’ but the most magical moment was as night fell and the stage was lit up with Fairy Lights for headliners, and brains behind the the event, Mumford and Sons.

Camping was plentiful on and off site but it was pleasingly civilised to be able to come home by train on Friday night and return fresh on the Saturday. Although after show moonlit midnight swimming at Pell’s Pond outdoor pool was a great reason to stay up late in Lewes. Those Gentlemen think of everything.
