Smiles all round
Ink-d gallery opens its doors on a star-studded art show this week with Ryan Callanan’s Word Up exhibition. The show sees pub-sign style art works adorned with lyrics from the likes of Cypress Hill and M.I.A, with two particular pieces catching our eyes: Fatboy Slim and Kasabian works countersigned by the artists themselves.
Sergio Pizzorno from Kasabian and Brighton’s Norman Cook are both long-time fans of Ryan’s work, which have also been collected by the likes of Goldie, Eve and Scroobius Pip. Norm explained “[Ryan] and I are brothers in smileys. His pieces are all over my house, his smile in my heart.” Ryan has already been hitting the papers with his Fatboy-inspired street art on Bond Street – make sure you catch the exhibition while it runs (2–26 August).
New baby
In all the excitement of the arrival of HRH Prince George of Cambridge last week you may be forgiven for missing this one, but we were delighted to hear last week that our Lisa’s favourite reality TV star is to become a dad for the third time. We worked with Pete last year and he really is the loveliest man, and a great dad to daughter Princess and son Junior.
Peter says he is “over the moon” to be expecting a baby with girlfriend Emily MacDonagh. Peter and 23-year-old medical student Emily are due to have their first child early next year. An excited Peter says he thinks Emily will make a “brilliant mum”. Writing in his new! magazine column this week, Peter, 40, revealed:”We were going to keep this to ourselves a little bit longer, but as everyone’s been asking, I am very happy to tell you that Emily and I are having a baby, and we are over the moon.”
Despite Emily’s pregnancy, it appears the couple won’t be rushing into getting wed any time soon. We hope we get to catch a glimpse of the baby when it’s born, perhaps at Pete’s fab coffee shop in Brighton! There is actually a crèche in there already, so he’s all prepared!
Film first in Norwich
Our favourite DJ (after Pat Sharp obviously) Alan Partridge finally had the premiere of his life in Anglia Square, Norwich, last week. As we suggested he would, Partridge took to the red carpet in a suit specially made by Brighton tailor Gresham Blake; what we hadn’t realised was the sheer genius behind the creation. Partridge posed for photos in the short-sleeved sky blue suit complete with pink tie and matching blue waist strap.
Partridge explained he had a deep love for Norwich (though not in an operation Yewtree style way he hastened to add) and had moved the premiere to Anglia square following a Twitter campaign: ‘The people have spoken in the biggest petition since the clinic started handing out johnnies to 13-year-olds’. When pressed on what Norwich had that London didn’t, Alan commented: “A lot of flat landscape, the Wash, reclaimed land – these are things that London doesn’t have and will never have.” He continued: “My favourite location during filming was Cromer Pier.
I’ve been to Blackpool Pier, Brighton Pier, Southend Pier – but Cromer is quite simply the best pier.’ Well, we don’t agree with you on that one Alan… Still, it was exciting to see the best of Brighton dominating such a glitzy premiere!
Katie’s baby bump
Whilst we’re giving air time to Peter Andre’s successful sperm – it seems only fair to catch up with the one and only Brighton girl – Katie Price. Katie has finally given onlookers a glimpse of her latest baby bump. Whilst shopping around our glorious city we were treated to a fleeting view as Pricey struggled with her scarf in some coastal wind. Katie had her latest husband – and baby daddy – Kieran Hayler in tow, alongside kids Junior and Princess; we wonder how they feel about their latest half-sibling.
Spotted!
Strictly Come Dancing star Kristina Rihanoff led over 100 girls in a Brighton flash mob in front of Brighton Pier last week. After tweeting that it was ‘a perfect day for a summer dance’ the Russian born star gathered dancers from Stagecoach in order to recreate a routine from the brand new Disney film ‘Teen Beach Movie’.
