Brighton road closed after crash

Falmer Road was closed near Longhill High School in Rottingdean this afternoon after a car crashed into a lamppost.

The accident happened at about 12.45pm today (Wednesday 31 July), Sussex Police said, closing the road between Rottingdean and Woodingdean in both directions.

Police and emergency services including East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene.

The fire service said that it sent a crew from Roedean in Brighton.

Sussex Police said that that highways officials remained at the scene while the car was recovered and the road made safe.

Traffic officers left the scene at about 2.30pm and the road was reopened.
