Brighton creative and digital project offers support for innovators

An umbrella organisation in Brighton for people and businesses in the creative and digital sector said that it was offering a new style of support.

Wired Sussex, which has hundreds of members in the creative, digital and IT (CDIT) sector, has set up the FuseBox Amp.

It said: “Wired Sussex is searching for six of the most promising and ambitious people who are in the process of starting innovative creative or digital business projects to provide them with four weeks of radically different learning and support unlike anything Brighton has seen before.”

Projects can be

  • a start-up
  • a new product or service in an existing business
  • a project to pivot a business from one business model to another

Wired Sussex said that it wasn’t interested in applicants’ backgrounds or how much experience they had.

It said that it was “interested in the person they are today and the impact they want to make in the future”.

The tailored support on offer includes mentoring and networking with some of the leading figures in the CDIT sector.

Wired Sussex has been involved in research into the sector in Brighton and managing director Phil Jones has acted as an expert adviser at national level.

He believes that existing models of business support do not work well for the CDIT sector and the FuseBox Amp is an attempt to pioneer a different approach.

Also involved in the project is Tom Nixon, one of the founders of Brighton digital communications agency Nixon McInnes.
