Christina Toimela is inspired by beauty in a caring personality

I have always admired the ability to look effortlessly beautiful and getting out of the door as quickly as possible. I think that eating healthly, keeping fit, smiling and being friendly are far more important than adding fake eyelashes, wearing a new outfit every day and slapping on tons of make-up. Like all of us, I observe inspiring people; I pay attention to people who are radiating, friendly, confident and genuinely nice.

“It was a mixture of confident business woman and a caring, attentive personality”

I met yet another inspiring person at one of the many networking events in Brighton. I paid attention to Jackie Knight’s tip-top professional look topped up with a big, warm smile. It was a mixture of confident business woman and a very caring, attentive personality. The next time I met Jackie was at a self-development course and I asked her, without knowing her profession, “What do you love about your work?”. She answered: “What I particularly love about my job is seeing my clients’ pleasure after they have undergone a non-surgical treatment or a surgical procedure.”

At this point I was, and am, happy to admit that when it comes to natural beauty I have cheated a little myself; my eyes are laser treated and my eyeliner is tattooed. We both agreed that feeling good inside is key for beauty and drifted into talking about caring. I was not surprised to find out that Jackie started her career as a Registered General Nurse. It explained the warmth and caring attitude oozing out of her.

We continued with that day’s topic, loving one self.* We all had to talk about ourselves and it turned out that Jackie, while running her own business and caring about others, had totally forgotten about herself. She had not had a day off for three and a half years! I was glad to hear that we had managed to convince her to book a holiday and let other people take care of things while she re-charged her batteries.

I go back to my work, feeling happy that I can focus my camera without wearing glasses. Holidays? Maybe one day – at least I managed to get a bit of a tan thanks to coffee breaks in the sun.
