Have you seen missing woman in Brighton?

Detectives believe that a missing 21-year-old woman may be in Brighton.

Emily Burnett had been detained under the Mental Health Act but absconded from Epsom General Hospital where she was being held.

Sussex Police have issued an appeal to help find her on behalf of Surrey Police who are concerned for the welfare of the woman, who comes from Ashtead.

Miss Burnett, who absconded shortly before 6pm yesterday (Wednesday 7 August), was described as a slim built white woman, about 5ft 1in tall, with shoulder-length, straight blonde hair.

She was wearing a brown striped jumper with a picture of a skull on it, black trousers, black canvas shoes and yellowish plastic-rimmed rectangular glasses when last seen.

The last confirmed sighting of Miss Burnett was in the Clapham Junction area yesterday evening.

She is known to have links to the Brighton area and to Devon.

Officers are keeping an open mind about whether she could have travelled to one of these areas or elsewhere.

Detective Sergeant Antony Preston, of Surrey Police’s Missing Persons Unit, said: “We are concerned for the welfare of Miss Burnett and are seeking the public’s help in our efforts to locate her.

“She is not believed to pose any threat to the wider public but it is imperative that she is found and able to continue her treatment.”

He asked anyone who had seen a woman matching Miss Burnett’s description to call Surrey Police on 101.

Detective Sergeant Preston also urged Miss Burnett to make contact either by calling 101 or going to a police station.
