Comedy: Krater Comedy Club

Our favourite weekend comedy haven, the backbone of Brighton’s pro clubbing circuit and lots of fun

A heap-load of fun, with names off the telly and radio plus ones soon to arrive there, Krater Comedy Club is a fabulous night out that lets the weekend feeling start as early as Thursday night, and keeps it going until the end of Sunday evening. Each night enjoys fundamentally great comedy acts, but with a different vibe depending on when in the week you go.

Thursday feels fresher, Friday can be raucous, Saturday early evening is in full swing, whereas the late night show embraces its opportunity for cheek and high energy. Sunday’s show is usually suitably happy to let you sit back and enjoy being tickled as you ease to the end of the brief summer party that is the weekend.

This weekend we’re in luck as Stephen Grant – multi-award winning compere and Brighton resident – takes up the MC duties from Thursday through to Saturday’s shows, with Matt Reed taking over and gently guiding us through Sunday’s buoyancy.

All weekend sees Paul Sinha (ITV1’s The Chase and BBC Radio 4) headline, showing his dry wit and strong humour as the only gay Asian former medical doctor currently on the comedy circuit who also wins quizzes in his spare time. Supporting on Friday until Sunday is Dave Fulton and Matt Reed (when he’s not on MC duties), and Kelly Kingham takes a comedy turn on Thursday evening.

With special meal deals available too, Krater really can be that one-stop comedy and food evening with a guaranteed no risk factor. And sometimes, when the sun is high and your brain has really had enough, that’s exactly what you need.
