Cult Of Luna
Clanging to crescendos with gusto, the seven-piece Swedish progressive metal band put on an impressive show. Dramatic, well-choreographed lighting and fantastic guttural vocals made the night feel like a fun and atmospheric large-scale rock concert. The loud, tight band used careful layers of minor chords sounding like a difficult middle child that built up to loud and explosive technicolour finales. The second half did drag a little, lacking the energy of the opening songs, but there were some relaxed moments that were a nice break for any of the less metal-inclined of the audience. Riveting, exciting, and a unique, immersive evening.
