Priscilla Queen Of The Desert – The Musical

This West End touring musical stars Noel Sullivan as Tick, fresh from playing the fantastic Galileo. One thing’s quickly clear: he is a true performer, given more range on stage than on any pop track. Alongside Richard Grieve as Bernadette and Graham Weaver as Felicia, the story follows the three drag queens as they leave Downtown Sydney. Aboard ‘Priscilla’, we are witness to catchy music tracks, sensational costumes and the fantastic ‘Divas’. When things were going strong everything hit the mark:songs, lighting and set. However, this also highlighted sections that weren’t as slick. At times, Felicia’s lines seemed cliché to the point of boring, but the bantering between the three showed good form.

While approached light heartedly, serious undertones are weaved into the story about acceptance. Of course, it’s camped up again before things get too serious – the dancing cupcakes and animal themed finale being highlights.
