Brighton College students celebrate outstanding A Level results
Brighton College is celebrating yet another terrific year of A Level results. Named UK School of the Year 2011-12 by the Sunday Times for being the only school in England to improve its results every single year for seven years, Brighton College has done it again, equalling the previous record of grades at A*-B:
• 96% of grades were at A*-B and 100% of grades were passed.
• Incredibly, 97 pupils achieved AAA or better in their results.
• 21 gained A*A*A*, an astonishing achievement.
• 20 secured places at Oxford or Cambridge.
Among those celebrating at school today were Cameron Dashwood, the Head Boy, who achieved 4 A*s and a place at Cambridge to read Natural Sciences; Eleanor De, with 4 A*s and a place at Cambridge to read Law; Angus Plummer, with 4 A*s and a place at Cambridge to study Computer Science; and Ashkon Seyed-Safi, also with 4 A*s and a place at Cambridge to study Medicine. In total, 20 have confirmed their Oxbridge places thus far.
Richard Cairns, Head Master: “I am delighted for the boys and girls of Brighton College. They have once again achieved the top grades in Sussex without ever losing their sense of fun or their commitment to life beyond the classroom. So many of those celebrating today have been top sportsmen, dancers, artists and musicians. That they have found time to excel academically as well is truly humbling and inspiring.”
