Supernormal Festival 2013
This underground arts festival’s fourth year kicked off in typically offbeat style with quirky guitar weirdos Unicorndad Vs Robodad, doom-metallers Sea Bastard and distinctive folk songwriter David Thomas Broughton. Summarizing the progressive, irreverent, idealistic and even bizarre ethos behind this not-for-profit event, this set the scene for another fascinating weekend. Though this year lacking some of the trademark woodland improv and cheese-dream art, the creative line-up proved triumphant. Coma Wall weaved an exquisite Southern Gothic dreamscape before a bewitching Mugstar, Hookworms and Clinic psychedelic triple-bill owned Saturday night. Sunday’s Bowie karaoke with Bass Clef’s infectious hyper-dubstep again ensured Supernormal had that vital festival fun factor to complement its undoubted credibility.
